WASHINGTON, D.C. – NGP VAN, the global leader in technology for Democratic and progressive campaigns and organizations, today announced its acquisition of NationalField, the startup launched out of the 2008 Obama campaign that provides online organizing networks and powerful data dashboards to campaigns and organizations fighting for change.
“We’re excited to be able to offer our organizing clients another tool that will make them more effective,” said Stu Trevelyan, CEO of NGP VAN. “The talented NationalField team will be a great addition to our family as we continue our legacy of industry-leading innovation.”
“With NGP VAN’s vast client network, NationalField will now be an essential tool for any progressive organization in 2014 and 2016,” said Edward Saatchi, CEO of NationalField.
NationalField was spun out of a project originally developed inside Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign for President. The company, founded by Edward Saatchi, Justin Lewis, and Aharon Wasserman, has since worked with hundreds of campaigns and organizations advocating for change on today’s most pressing issues, including global poverty, economic justice, healthcare and immigration reform, and equal rights.
This acquisition pairs NationalField with VAN, the voter contact and volunteer management tool used by most Democratic and progressive field campaigns.
“Our clients have always asked for a more integrated experience with VAN. That will finally be possible with news of today’s acquisition,” said Justin Lewis, Chief Technology Officer of NationalField.
With a beautiful Facebook-like interface, NationalField allows managers to see real-time data dashboards of key metrics and progress towards goals for everyone in the organization. Organizers can quickly and easily track their own performance, share best practices with peers, and provide front-line feedback to managers up the organization’s hierarchy. Taken together, the features of NationalField amplify and optimize the efforts of organizers.
“We are just getting started and with the power of NGP VAN behind us, there's nothing we can't do!” said Aharon Wasserman, who is leading development of Seeds, a new product from NationalField allowing one-click volunteer experiences on any website.
The founders of NationalField will join NGP VAN as senior staff.
Clients that use VAN for field organizing include almost every Democratic candidate through a partnership with the DNC, as well as large political committees like Ready For Hillary, and many progressive non-profits, civic engagement organizations, and labor unions.
